The spirit of Taekwondo
is to overcome oneself
and benefit the world !
Welcome
Our Story.
Our Mission.
Our Taekwondo school’s mission is to promote
the spirit of ‘Hongik Ingan’ (benefiting all mankind)
We believe in offering a positive environment where students can progress in their martial arts careers by not only meeting the goals of the curriculum but also by setting and achieving their own goals. The spirit of Taekwondo is to overcome oneself and benefit the world. Through Taekwondo, students can naturally develop leadership skills by overcoming fears, worries, hesitation, and shyness. Public speech is one of the important our curriculum. Our goal is to nurture true leaders through self-discipline, who can benefit the people in their community, society, country, and the world, becoming “Hongik Leaders.”
Our program focuses on the healthy self-formation during childhood, which has a lifelong impact. Morality, values, core character traits, and subconscious characteristics are established in early childhood, and the quantity and quality of successful experiences and information gained during this period lead to the development of confidence, perseverance, patience, consideration, etiquette, and leadership. For this reason, the programs offered at Hongik Taekwondo Academy prioritize the successful experiences and self-formation of young students. Along with Taekwondo, we offer elective courses such as public speaking for self-expression, leading skills where students teach what they know under the guidance of certified instructors, and community service activities that contribute to the local area.
If you want your child to confidently express themselves in front of others and become a wise leader among their peers, please don’t waste this critical period of self-formation that will have a lifelong impact. We, from the perspective of parents, will assist in achieving this goal. We wish your home to be filled with bliss and warmth.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Master Lee
What We Offer
At Hongik Taekwondo Academy, we guide students to step out of their comfort zones and gradually try new things, naturally building their confidence. By learning new kicks, forms, and self-defense techniques, students experience countless moments of success, realizing, “I can do it if I focus!” These solidified experiences of success will continuously impact their lives, fostering qualities such as perseverance to not give up easily, concentration towards achieving goals, and resilience to maintain a learning attitude even in the face of failure.
1. Body Training
The body and mind are very directly connected. Therefore, deep inner growth cannot occur without the body. A healthy body creates a healthy mind.
2. Self-directed learning
When students gain confidence and become proficient in public speaking, we guide them to set their own goals, plan how to achieve them, and accomplish them independently. Through self-directed learning, students improve their problem-solving skills and develop lifelong learning habits.
Leadership Training
At Hongik Taekwondo Academy, once students achieve an orange belt or higher and show the willingness, they are gradually guided to teach what they have learned to other students. While learning is important, teaching what they know helps them reflect on, understand, and develop their own leadership skills. By the time they attain a black belt, they have already cultivated the leadership necessary to teach Taekwondo to others, regardless of age group.
Proficient class (Black belt club)
Students who show a strong desire to learn and demonstrate talent as they begin Taekwondo classes become eligible to join the Black Belt Club. This is achieved through the Black Belt Club Test. The purpose of this club is to aim for the black belt and eventually become a master, providing not only proficient group class but also customized 1:1 coaching. When students are ready for belt promotion, evaluations are conducted 1:1, ensuring no time is wasted. Additionally, leadership training is provided to further develop their skills.
after school program
1. Transportation Service: We provide a transportation service that picks up students directly from school. For parents who desire additional convenience, we offer an optional service that brings students home after the after-school program.
2. Field Trip Opportunities: We regularly offer field trip opportunities for our students. Beyond the activities at our center, we provide programs that allow students to experience learning in different environments.
3. Homework Assistance: Students are guided to complete their school homework under the supervision of after-school program teachers. For students who struggle to keep up with school progress, additional learning support is available as needed.
4. Small Group Programs: Our programs are always conducted in small group settings, allowing students to experience various interactions with peers. This setup helps them develop interpersonal skills and leadership abilities naturally by leading and participating in group activities.
These programs are designed to enhance the overall development of our students, ensuring they receive comprehensive support academically, socially, and in their Taekwondo training.
“funday” for kids
At Funday, students engage in a variety of activities such as crafts, scientific experiments, assembly projects, costume activities, and snack-making. This event allows them to create their own unique works and then present the process and their experiences, boosting their confidence and presentation skills in a fun setting. Held once a month, Funday also serves as a celebration and recognition of the students’ efforts and progress in Taekwondo.
