The spirit of Tai Chi and meditation
is based on the principles of Yin and Yang,
ultimately to benefit the world!

Welcome

Our Story.
Our Mission.

Our Taichi & Meditation school’s mission is to promote

the spirit of ‘Hongik Ingan’ (benefiting all mankind)

We believe in offering a positive environment where students can progress in their martial arts careers by not only meeting the goals of the curriculum but also by setting and achieving their own goals. The spirit of Tai Chi and meditation is based on the principles of Yin and Yang, ultimately to benefit the world! Through Taichi & Meditation, students can naturally develop leadership skills by overcoming fears, worries, hesitation, and shyness. Public speech is one of the important our curriculum. Our goal is to nurture true leaders through self-discipline, who can benefit the people in their community, society, country, and the world, becoming social “Hongik Leaders.”

Our Tai Chi Meditation program prioritizes personal development. The foundations of values, morality, and core character traits are established within our subconscious mind. When we explore the roots of emotions such as anxiety, fear, and worry that arise in daily life, we can often trace them back to our subconscious. For this reason, the program at Hongik Tai Chi & Meditation Academy aims to go beyond simply transforming negative emotions into positive energy. Our goal is to reach a level where you can control and manage even the deepest aspects of the unconscious mind. Through the practice of self-affirmation, recognition, and deep understanding, you will ultimately come to realize that you have always been the decision-maker, possessing the power to choose and master your life. Experience the feeling of infinite freedom. And with this power, we guide you to confidently live the life you desire in society. Personal peace and growth are not the final destinations, but rather turning points on the path to true happiness. When you contribute your strength and wisdom to society and benefit others, that is when you will truly begin to shine and experience genuine happiness.

We are always here to help you achieve your goals and support you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Master Lee

Brief Overview

Curriculum at a glance

1. Body opening

In daily life, work relationships, and personal relationships, stress causes our bodies to tense up and become rigid. We often go about our lives without being aware of the extent of this tension. By understanding how tense our bodies are through experience, we learn to keep our bodies flexible and relaxed. The ability to manage and maintain a relaxed body is crucial, as one cannot achieve the deep concentration needed for breathing and meditation if the body is not relaxed. Therefore, the ability to manage one’s own body is an essential step for practicing Tai Chi and meditation. The purpose of this step is becoming the genuine owner of body to equip ability of managing fully my body whenever I want and wherever I need.

2. Energy opening

If you have developed the sense and ability to fully relax your body anywhere, the next step is to manage your energy. when body is relaxed enough, eventually we can recognize the flow of energy in body. Through the experience of actually feeling your energy, you will internalize the principle that energy can disperse and gather depending on your focus. The goal is to release negative energy and accumulate positive energy, maintaining optimal energy conditions for yourself. In this stage, you will learn about the Danjeon (2nd Chakra), which plays a key role in energy management.

When you can maintain this optimal energy state, you become less easily swayed by emotions or other people’s words. Instead, you develop a sense of calmness that allows you to observe these emotions from a distance. This stage leads you to practice to manage your emotions easily like nervousness, anxiety, depression, sadness, anger etc. At the same time, feeling hope, confidence, calmness, prudence, tolerance and Focus.

3. subconsciouness opening

Once you have developed the habit of effectively managing your body and energy, the next step is to cultivate a deep focus that allows you to study the roots of the negative emotions you have experienced throughout your life. At this stage, you will study the unconscious mind, which is the root of all emotions. The unconscious mind is a collection of everything we have experienced since birth. Each experience leads us to a conclusion that becomes a fixation. Unconsciously, we live by countless programmed fixations without even realizing it.

For example, if you had an experience of nearly drowning as a child, your unconscious mind might interpret “water = fear” or “water = death.” Conversely, if you sang in front of people as a child and received applause and praise, you might develop the fixation that “singing = happiness.” Even trivial decisions, such as choosing the color of a new car or selecting a dish at a restaurant, are influenced by these fixations. This doesn’t mean that fixations are inherently bad; they are essential systems that help us process countless pieces of information.

4. internalization law of nature

Managing my body, energy, and unconscious mind can be seen as personal inner growth in the broader context. Once you have properly completed the previous stages, you will be able to handle all the internal issues that arise on your own. This mental self-sufficiency naturally reduces the desire and greed to obtain more for only yourself.

At this stage, you study and understand the macro-level meanings of the principles of Yin and Yang as they relate to the connections and situations that come your way, encompassing the depth, history, and era of your entire life beyond your inner self. This transformation is a natural and gradual process. Here, you transcend conventional knowledge and common sense, cultivating a new sense of insight. This new perspective allows you to address not only your own issues but also those of others, a stage where this insight is referred to as wisdom.

The principles of Yin and Yang, which you have studied within your inner self, now apply to the world around you, with only the focus shifting from the individual to the external world. As you integrate these principles, you begin to find solutions to previously unsolvable problems in family relationships, interpersonal relationships, work issues, and conflicts, significantly expanding your problem-solving abilities.

5. benefit others

When you reach the stage where you can help others and make yourself understood in any conversation or encounter, you embody the principles of Hongik Ingan. This is also the name of our Tai Chi Meditation Center. The concept of “Hongik” first appeared in Korean history over 4,000 years ago and translates to “benefiting humanity broadly.”

Becoming a Hongik leader does not signify the end of one’s studies, as there are more refined stages even within this level. The next four stages are as follows:

  1. Being able to help one’s neighbors.
  2. Being able to help society.
  3. Being able to help the nation.
  4. Being able to help humanity.

If someone has studied and attained the capability to practice Hongik for the nation and humanity, they possess such great wisdom and character that they can leave a lasting mark on history. Hongik Tai Chi and Meditation Center sets this ideal of a Hongik leader as the model of an ideal person.
